Many Muslims are recruited for their stellar athletic performance. When they arrive at college or university, they may feel challenged in their religious beliefs with their teammates and in athletics. What support can you offer to ensure that Muslim student athletes are included fully as a team while their religious needs are accomodated?
How can a Muslim athlete who dresses modestly and covers their hair be supported and not bullied ? Can your athlete play during Ramadan ? When your team travels, how can you support students in observing their prayers ? Are you aware of religious holidays that may impact competitive game schedules ?
All are welcome, but this is especially appropriate for coaches and team assistants who support students.
